Talking of schools, if any of you have reception aged children check out the Booktime website. Booktime are a charity that provides all reception age children with a book pack at school containing free books to encourage children and families to enjoy reading together for fun and pleasure.
In 2010 each reception pupil will receive as a gift in the autumn term a book bag containing Eric Carle’s “Slowly, Slowly, Slowly,” Said the Sloth (Puffin) along with Why Is the Sky Blue?, compiled by Geraldine Taylor and illustrated by Amy Schimler (Ladybird). Booktime are also running an amazing competition to enable your local school or library to win an exclusive artists proof of“Slowly, Slowly, Slowly,” Said the Sloth which is signed by Eric Carle (of The Very Hungry Caterpillar fame)
All you have to do is visit the Booktime website and nominate your local school or library. I've already done mine. Each book pack is a gift from leading publisher and education technology company Pearson and independent charity Booktrust. Booktime is supported by the Department for Education.
